What Bleepster is
Bleepster is a Chrome extension that mutes profanity in YouTube videos. This policy covers the extension and the bleepster.app website.
Information Bleepster handles
- Account information: your email address, internal user ID, passwordless sign-in state, and authentication session tokens. If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides an identity token and email address for that sign-in.
- YouTube data: the current YouTube video ID and available caption or transcript text. Analyzed video IDs may be stored on Bleepster's servers to enforce the Free plan limit.
- Device and billing information: a randomly generated ID for the Chrome profile, plan status, device slot, and Stripe customer, Checkout Session, subscription, Price, and Product identifiers needed to verify Premium access. Legacy Paddle purchase identifiers may be retained for customers who bought an earlier lifetime license.
- Local extension data: on/off and playback settings, authentication session, randomly generated device ID, caption-analysis results, license cache, and the salted cryptographic hash of an optional Parent PIN.
- Legacy waitlist data: if you joined the pre-launch waitlist, your email address and submission source.
How the information is used
Bleepster uses this information only to sign users in, obtain and analyze captions, time profanity mutes, cache results, enforce Free and Premium limits, protect settings, process or restore a purchase, prevent abuse, and provide support requested by the user. Bleepster does not use user data for advertising, behavioral profiling, creditworthiness, or data brokerage.
Where caption text goes
To analyze a video, the extension sends caption text over HTTPS to an authenticated Bleepster server function hosted by Supabase. That function sends the text to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio for analysis with Qwen and returns the detected spans to the extension. Bleepster does not require or collect a personal AI API key.
Bleepster does not store caption text as an account record. Alibaba Cloud processes the request under its applicable terms and privacy practices. Locally cached analysis results remain in chrome.storage.local until browser storage is cleared or the extension or Chrome profile is removed.
Video audio
Bleepster never downloads, records, stores, or uploads video audio. Muting and the optional bleep sound happen locally during playback.
Service providers and disclosures
- Supabase for authentication, account storage, entitlements, and server functions.
- Alibaba Cloud Model Studio for Qwen caption analysis.
- Stripe for Checkout, recurring billing, receipts, refunds, and the customer portal. Bleepster does not receive complete payment-card details.
- Google identity services only when the user chooses Google sign-in.
- YouTube page and caption endpoints to obtain the current video's captions and timing.
Bleepster does not sell user data. It discloses information only to provide the functions above, comply with law, protect users and the service from fraud or abuse, or complete a corporate transaction with any consent required by law and Chrome Web Store policy.
Storage and retention
Local extension data remains in the Chrome profile until it is cleared, the relevant setting is changed, browser storage is cleared, or the extension or profile is removed. Bleepster server account, analyzed-video, device, and entitlement records are retained while the account is active and as reasonably needed for security, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Stripe retains payment records under its own policy and legal obligations.
Security
User data is transmitted over HTTPS. Parent PINs are stored only as salted PBKDF2-SHA-256 hashes. No internet service or local browser storage can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should protect access to their Chrome profile and account.
Your choices and deletion
You can disable filtering, sign out, clear extension storage, or uninstall Bleepster. Email us to request deletion of your Bleepster account and associated server data, or removal from the pre-launch waitlist.
Children
Bleepster is a tool for parents and households. It is not directed to children under 13, does not create child profiles, and should be configured by an adult. A Parent PIN is a child-resistant settings lock, not a substitute for browser, device, or adult supervision.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
Material changes to data handling will be disclosed before the changed practice begins, and the effective date above will be updated.
